We spend a lot of time thinking about how a space looks. Rarely enough about how it feels to be inside it. Acoustics change that.
FeltArt acoustic panels are where sound science meets considered design. Built for anyone who wants a space that works as well as it looks.
Acoustics
The problem with hard spaces
Modern interiors are beautiful. They're also loud.
Hard floors, bare walls, concrete ceilings, the materials we love for their clean aesthetic are the same ones that scatter sound, build up echo, and make rooms feel relentless. Over time, poor acoustics don't just irritate. They exhaust. They reduce focus, disrupt conversation, and quietly erode the comfort of a space.
Good acoustics fix that. Not by silencing a room, but by bringing it into balance.
How FeltArt works
Sound travels as waves. When those waves hit hard surfaces, they bounce. They layer on top of each other, creating reverberation. That familiar sense of noise that lingers and builds.
FeltArt panels interrupt that cycle.
Made from dense recycled PET felt, each panel allows sound waves to pass into its fiber structure. As the waves move through, friction converts that sound energy into negligible heat. The result: less bounce, less build-up, and a room that simply feels calmer.
Thickness matters. Denser, thicker panels perform strongly across lower frequencies. Thinner panels excel at absorbing mid- to high-frequency sounds — speech, consonants, the everyday sounds of a busy room. Used in combination, FeltArt panels create acoustics that are balanced, not just reduced.
The numbers
FeltArt panels are tested and perform at an NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient) of up to 0.85. This is placing them firmly in the high-performance category, on par with professional architectural solutions.
NRC is measured on a scale of 0 to 1. For context:
- Concrete or glass: ~0.05
- Wood flooring: ~0.10–0.15
- Heavy curtains: ~0.60–0.70
- FeltArt panels: up to 0.85
Performance varies based on panel thickness, density, and placement. This is why we don't offer one-size-fits-all advice.
Designed to be seen
Most acoustic solutions ask you to compromise. Functional grey tiles. Institutional foam. Panels that work but disappear into the background, or worse, define it in the wrong way.
FeltArt is different. Every panel is a design object in its own right, developed by our dedicated designer Juul Hagemeier, who has shaped the FeltArt aesthetic from the very beginning. Always balancing acoustics, simplicity, and the distinctive qualities of PET felt.
The result is acoustic performance you don't have to hide.
Who is FeltArt for?
Material with a second life
FeltArt panels are made from recycled PET felt. These are post-consumer plastic bottles transformed into a premium acoustic and design material. High performance, low footprint.
Good acoustics shouldn't cost the planet. With FeltArt, they don't.
