The problem with hard spaces
Clean interiors, hollow sound.
Hard floors, bare walls, concrete ceilings: the materials we love for their clean aesthetic are the same ones that scatter sound, build up echo, and make rooms sound harsh. Poor acoustics are tiring: it gets harder to focus and harder to follow a conversation.
A room doesn't need to be silent. Sound just shouldn't hang around so long.
How FeltArt works
Sound travels as waves. When those waves hit hard surfaces, they bounce and layer on top of each other, creating reverberation: that familiar sense of noise that lingers and builds.
FeltArt panels interrupt that cycle. Made from dense recycled PET felt, each panel lets sound waves pass into its fibre structure, where friction converts that sound energy into negligible heat. So less sound bounces back and the room sounds calmer.
Thickness matters. Denser, thicker panels perform strongly across lower frequencies. Thinner panels excel at mid to high frequencies, such as speech and the everyday sounds of a busy room.
The numbers
FeltArt panels are tested at an NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient) of up to 0.85. NRC runs from 0 to 1: the higher the number, the more sound a material absorbs.
How well it works in practice depends on the number of panels, their size and the room they hang in. That's why we don't give standard advice: start by looking at your own room.
Designed to be seen
Most acoustic products look the part: grey ceiling tiles, foam, or panels that are clearly there for function only.
FeltArt works the other way round. All designs are by designer Juul Hagemeier, who has been involved from the start. The shapes are kept simple, so a panel absorbs sound well and looks calm on the wall.
So there's no need to hide them.

The material
FeltArt panels are made from 100% PET felt, 85% of which is recycled PET. The felt is firm and light, and absorbs up to 85% of sound (NRC 0.85).
Because most of it is recycled, less new plastic goes into making them.
